Fresh out of the kiln (and what’s about to go in!)

The fall leaves continue to inspire me and therefore, I have a lot to share!  Thanks to the back yard of my brother’s yard in CT, I have fern pieces.  This past week’s rain has been kind enough to leave me grape leaves to use, and my parsnip plants continue to grow their leaves.   The LARGE oak leaves came from the shores of Lake St. Catherine in VT…

On a visit to my older sister’s house, I collected oak leaves in her driveway.  Pressed oak leaves combined with slip trailing make a good surface decoration.  With my style of creating, it’s all about the surface of the piece–the shape helps to highlight the surface.  I’ve been experimenting with the oak leaf and slip trail and look forward to some great results–i’ll keep you posted.

Robin’s Nest Is Open

Fall 2014 is off to a great start for Fat Robin Pottery. Thanks to my weekend sale there is now room for my fall merchandise. There were many familiar faces as well as new faces.

Customer feedback was great and included discussions on new glaze colors, shapes, and sizes of items that everyone would enjoy .

Now is the time for holiday special requests or orders. For example, if you would like 6 business card holders for coworkers (or mugs or bowls) please get in touch.

Please feel free to share my information with friends, family, and coworkers. Fat Robin has also been posting regularly on Facebook (please “like” or “share” all small businesses—it helps!)

The Robins Nest (my garage) is set up for the fall season for shopping, with all available items on display. It is open daily by appointment—just call to say you’d like to stop by on your way home to/from work. Another great time to stop by is Sunday afternoon as my husband is a high school teacher and spends his Sunday afternoons correcting student work.

Thank you for shopping locally, art is sales tax free in RI, and see you soon!

Typical New England Saturday and Sunny Sunday

Mother Nature is giving us a typical, unpredictable fall day tomorrow for the Fat Robin Sample Sale…Thanks to the wonders of modern technology (and Job Lot), an awning has been set up and the garage will be used and the sale will go on.  The sale will start as planned on Saturday morning and continue as long as the rain holds off,  from 8:00 a.m. to hopefully 4:00 p.m.  However, since I can’t predict the forecast, I am already adding a second day (a rain day, a “do over”) on Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.   So come on an Undecided Weather Saturday or a Sunny Sunday–I’ll be here!

P.S. the first of the 2014 hubbard squash bowls are ready!
